Thankful

                                                                  relaxing in my crib

i am thankful for so many things.

i love my warm bunny hat, my cozy crib and my flutter too.  i love my momo and papa.  i love my grandma and grandpa.  my silly cousins.  snuggle time with auntC and uncleM.  my first friend gillian.  (i'm not so thankful for baths, but i'm starting to understand that i have to take them.)  my puppy chloe.  long rides in the car.  white noise and a tight swaddle.  all my va friends.  friends and family i'm waiting to meet.

most of all, i am thankful to be a part of my little family.  breakfast with dad.  quiet moments with mom in the wee hours.  flying with dad.  rocking to sleep with mom.  dad's silly faces and dancing with mom.  laughing when i'm happy and crying when i'm sad.

i am thankful for so many things.  happy thanksgiving to you!

Kissin' Cousins

When I was little, my older cousins provided me with nothing but the most stylish hand-me-downs, tips about the most popular music, the newest slang and the best of times.  We danced in the kitchen while drying dishes.  We played dress-up by the hour.  We swam at the lake and stayed up until morning telling stories in our "Cousin's Coup".  We loved every minute.

This month, Anna and her cousins met and played together for the first time.  Anna wore her hand-me-downs proudly, she listened intently while E & J read stories to her and she smiled at them with adoration.  I can tell that this is the beginning of a wonderful relationship.
Let the games begin!

Going on a Bear Hunt

Last weekend, we packed up and went to the mountains for a getaway to celebrate our 3rd anniversary.  Looking at the packing list, one would think we were going to leave the city and live in the mountains to hunt and gather for a few years.  Anna's list included:

stroller
Boppy seat
Pack 'n Play
Bjorn carrier
thermometer and Tylenol (you never know)
What to Expect During the First Year (what if we don't know what to expect in the mountains?)
Baby Prilosec
books
bottles
pump
dish soap
suckies (family term for pacifier)
wash cloths and bath towel
diapers
wipes
burp cloths
outfits and jammies
hats
blankets
socks and booties
swaddle
changing pad
... and Flutter

The only thing we didn't use?  The stroller.

We had a great time and Anna loved being outside in the cool weather.  She slept through a 2 hour hike in the Bjorn on her dad and enjoyed some long naps and serious snuggle time with us.  A perfect weekend.

Red Carpet Welcome!

Welcome to Anna Caroline's baby blog!  As her doting parents, we'll try to post as often as we think you would want to hear about her.  She is almost three months old and is as cute as a button.  She spends her days hanging out with her mom and her evenings adoring her dad.  Her nights are spent manipulating both her mom and her dad as they succumb to her cries and end up snuggling her to sleep in their arms.  Does she really suffer from acid reflux?  Or does she just prefer her parent's bed?  We're still working on figuring this mystery out.  Regardless, we're so happy to have her in our arms, day or night.
